MOBILE DRONE POD

CLIENT: EPIRUS, INC.

My freshman year engineering design team was tasked by Epirus, INC. to design and construct an aerodynamic drone transport pod for counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The design needed to be RF permeable in order to support the electronics inside, but still weatherproof, lightweight and aerodynamically mounted underneath the Harris Aerial H6HL drone.

Our Proposed Solution

My role on the project team was to lead the design prototyping of our solution which consisted of an airfoil design and an L-Band permeable window. In addition to the design of the prototype, I conducted extensive design testing including aerodynamics tests of various 3D printed models in the Duke Wind Tunnel and RF (L-Band) permeability materials tests.
