ABOUT ME

I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of different teams and organizations including fortune 500 companies, start ups, and academic teams. I have experience in health care devices, robotics, natural ecosystems, software development including AI/ML, electromagnetic radiation and consumer products. My ability to think critically and work collaboratively has been proven through these projects, including leading cross-functional teams to develop efficient designs while considering cost, performance, and manufacturability.

PROJECTS

MAGNETIC ALIGNMENT

During my summer internship at Apple in 2023, I designed on-program parts and supported team-members with various projects related to inductive charging. Additionally, I constructed and carried out experiments that validated these designs and characterized various products and technologies.

CAKE ICING ROBOT

My class project group designed an autonomous robot capable of icing a cake from a user drawn image. By incorporating a custom end effector that squeezes icing out of a piping bag onto the cake and attaching that to a URE5 robot arm allows users to completely customize perfect cakes with ease. Simulations were preformed in Gazebo and the motion planning was done in ROS and Python.

RAINFOREST XPRIZE

My university project team was selected from over 300 teams to be one of the 13 Semi-Finalists to travel to the Singapore Rainforest to compete in the XPRIZE Rainforest Contest. As the plant and animal identification team leader, I worked on building and redesigning drones to fly in rainforest conditions and altered animal and plant identification Machine Learning Algorithms/API algorithms with drone photos.

ROBOTIC IV INSERTION

In order to build an end effector capable of inserting an Intravenous (IV) into a patient based on feedback from a portable ultrasound, I prototyped and designed a 3 Degree of Freedom Robotic Arm that could be attached to a UR 5. Additionally, I performed PID Tuning in order to optimize controls resulting in deviations of < 1mm.

PPH TRAINING DEVICE

My four person project team designed a low cost anatomical model to aid in rapid PPH diagnosis training in low resource environments with a 99% cost reduction compared to existing training tools and I worked on prototyping the model and conducted materials testing on model to insure the accuracy of our design.

REINFORCED POLYMER 3D PRINTING

In a semester long research project during my studies at the University of Dublin, I successfully embedded a continuous stainless steel fiber bundle into a Nylon polymer to produce a 3D printable filament in order to improve mechanical properties of 3D Printed parts. I then tested its mechanical properties by running Interlaminar Shear Stress Tests.

DAMAGE REDUCING END OF ARM TOOL

During my summer internship at Amazon Robotics in 2022, I led design and prototyping for a proposed hybrid robotic "end of arm" effector (EoAT) similar to Amazon Picking Challenge that reduced package damages by 60% and created Standardized Testing procedures for 30+ existing EoATs for company wide prioritization.

DIRECTED ENERGY THERMOLYSIS

During my summer internship at Epirus in 2021, I managed the research and development of a new RF directed energy commercial use case addressing CO2 emissions from the initial design through testing a proof of concept leading to the design of a Minimal Viable Product (MVP). The project led to a provisional patent filing in August 2021 and patent filing in July 2022 (Patent Number 20230015528).

MOBILE DRONE POD

For a semester long class design project, my four person project team Communicated with our client to design a drone transport pod for a Counter Unmanned Aircraft System that was aerodynamic, weatherproof and L-Band Permeable. Additionally, I performed extensive RF permeability materials tests and ran aerodynamics tests of 3D printed models in Duke Wind Tunnel.

OTHER EXPERIENCE

In addition to my design projects, I am currently the President of the Duke Society of Women Engineers, am part of the Line Monitor Organization, am a Teaching Assistant  for the Freshman Engineering Design and Communication Course, and received my certification to fly Drones in Singapore. Picture is a class project for ECE110 (Fundamentals of Electrical and Computer Engineering).
