Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate
Look through to learn about my journey as an Innovation and Entrepreneurship student at Duke University.
Final Reflection
Through my Capstone experience, I've realized that my understanding of myself and innovation & entrepreneurship has evolved significantly. Initially drawn to the I&E Certificate to gain a business perspective as a mechanical engineer, I've come to appreciate not only the fundamentals of business but also the iterative nature of design and the importance of user testing. Transitioning from the Engineering Design Process to incorporating design thinking into entrepreneurial endeavors was eye-opening. Entrepreneurship itself emerged as a previously unknown field, unveiling a realm of innovation I hadn't explored before.

The Capstone deepened my understanding of iterative design and user testing, emphasizing the necessity of refining ideas through continuous feedback loops. Many case studies underscored the consequences of neglecting this iterative process, reinforcing the importance of thorough testing and refinement.

Engaging in the Capstone allowed me to apply design thinking to a real client project, offering invaluable hands-on experience. Collaborating with peers to craft a D2C market strategy for our client provided insights into company culture and the complexities of market strategy development.

Overall, the Capstone has not only enhanced my understanding of entrepreneurship but also highlighted the practical application of design thinking and iterative processes in real-world scenarios. Beyond Duke, I plan to leverage these insights and experiences to approach challenges with a more innovative and iterative mindset, whether in engineering, entrepreneurship, or any other endeavors I pursue.
